About Me

I am the Teaching and Learning Librarian at McMaster University (“Mac”) in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I started this blog when I accepted this position as a way to record ideas about initiatives, activities and programs I would like to pursue as part of my mandate, to share ideas about the role of the library in teaching and learning on campus (the title of the presentation I was asked to give during my interview!), and to track our progress.

I am responsible for integrating 21st century fluencies into the undergraduate curriculum at Mac and for developing programs and materials to help our librarians become more effective teachers. I also have a hand in staff development and training. I chair the Library’s Teaching with Technology Group and represent the Library on the University Task Force on Teaching and Learning. I’m currently working with faculty members from Science to develop a new curriculum for McMaster’s innovative Honours Integrated Science program, and am developing a framework that will establish the Library’s role in supporting and developing 21st century fluencies at the university. My complete job description can be found here and some additional information about my professional experience at McGill and Concordia universities in Québec prior to coming to Mac is available here.

I’m interested in 21st century fluencies, SoTL, teaching and learning technologies and corporate culture in higher education.
